Summary:
Furukawa Sakura was a single mother with a pair of adorable twins; Kaoru and Hikaru. Her life was rather satisfying with the three of them together but as Fujisaki Kei appeared, she knew chaos will be in store for her. The picture of them together with him was perfect as long as she can get through her first obstacle; her step-sister, Furukawa Aihara.
Prologue
-Tokyo (3:47 PM)-
“The meeting has started, Furukawa-san”, Namie informed with a clipboard in her grasp. She waited for a reply from the lady sitting across the room but none was heard. She sighed and her heels clicked on to the floor each time she stepped. As soon she reached the lady, she stood straight, in front of her desk.
“I heard you, Namie. Have you prepared a clean draft for today’s meeting?” the lady asked without lifting her gaze from the file she was reading. There was another stack of file on the floor since her desk was crowded with papers and files.
Namie gulped inwardly before speaking, “u-uh, yes, Furukawa-san.”
“Tell the directors I’ll be there soon. Give me another five.”
“About that Furukawa-san, the directors complained about how late you are and started without you. Of course the manager from Doku Company wasn’t very happy without your presence. He threatened that if you didn’t show up, the deal’s off and—” Namie stopped herself seeing the lady stood up, straightening her coat nicely.
“What impatient old men. They won’t live long messing with me. Come Namie. Let’s teach these men some lessons”, she smirked, walking gracefully out her office. Namie nodded hesitantly, trailing behind the lady. Sometimes she just couldn’t understand her boss at all.
XOXO
Furukawa Sakura, aged 27, a beauty with nice mid-length hazelnut coloured charcoal. Her eyes were the colour of emeralds, shining beautifully down the sun and seemed to glow during the night. Her skin was tanned and flawless. She had a cute mole under her left eye. She stood five foot tall, a little short for the lady.
She kicked her heels off, leading herself to the main living room. Huge as it was, everything in it was elegant and sophisticated. The marble coffee tables were cornered around by the maroon giant like sofas with amazingly comfy sofas on them. The chandelier above her did the great lighting, made of crystal; it was sparkly and lit everything at the room. Even if she had lived here for quite sometimes, she still felt the sense of not belonging in this mansion.
She threw herself on to the sofa, massaging her temple thoroughly. A massive headache started attacking so she stood and walked to the kitchen to get two pills of paracetamol. It was never good to always depend on drugs and good rest seemed to be great but she couldn’t help it. She gobbled it down her gut with a glass of warm water before ascending upstairs to her bedroom.
She turned a corner and continued walking down the corridor and stopped halfway hearing giggles coming from the first room. She couldn’t help but smile. She suddenly opened the door softly. She found a pair of twins sitting on the floor, each with their blankets around.
The twins had nice hazelnuts locks and mesmerizing amber eyes different from hers. The twins stood three foot tall beside her and hadn’t notice her yet.
“Why aren’t you two in bed?” she leaned by the doorframe with her arms crossed in front of her chest.
“Mom!” both of them said in unison, turning their heads around to see their mother.
“It’s late. Off to bed, you two”, Sakura walked towards the twins, picking up each one in her arms. Both of them snuggled in to her trying to find comfort and warmth of their mother.
“B-but we had a nightmare!” said the one in her right arm. It was Kaoru.
“Nightmare?” Sakura tried not to sound too amused.
“Y-yeah, the same one that we had every night”, said Hikaru, the one in her left arm.
She knew what kind of dream it was but didn’t want to think much of it. She too felt the goosebumps forming behind her neck.
Sakura softened her facial expression, “I guess you two wanna sleep with me tonight.”
“Really?” both perked up to her.
“Alright. Alright”, Sakura laughed.
“Yay!” both cheered.
XOXO
“Ok, I’m turning off the lights now”, Sakura reached for the lamp near her bed. She switched the light off and the room was pitched dark but the moon lit up brightly from outside.
She slipped in to her bed and comfortably adjusted her position. The twins slept together on the other side of the bed. She planted each boy with a kiss on their forehead. She pulled the cover up but felt a nudge by the waist.
She turned to face the twins, “what is it, boys? It’s late already.”
Her eyes bored into them, feeling the sense of tiredness getting the good of her. She needed to sleep but the twins seem to have different idea than her.
“Umm, mom”, Hikaru spoke.
“Yes, Hikaru?”
“Where’s dad?” asked Kaoru.
