Where It All Begin

She didn’t quite know how to feel. It wasn’t as if she couldn’t feel sorrow or depression or any of those sorts. It was just like that day; when her mother had left her, leaving her with her father. It felt like that all over again. Except, for today, nobody died. Nobody wanted to leave her alone. Everyone was just gathering around her, saying all those kind of speeches or greetings.

“He was a great man,” said one of the visitors. She never knew this man but deep inside he wanted him to die just like all those who attended today.

She had been kneeling for hours and she knew how her body had started aching all over. But she just couldn’t bring herself to stand. She remained still, silent, not even moving an inch. She felt the sky tear up above her. It seemed the sky was crying as well for this great man infront of her.

The man lied lifelessly but had a smile on his wrinkled face. He had worn one of his favourite suits; she requested so. He looked so much peaceful now. No more pains. No more confrontation. He had moved on now, to another realm.

She knew she was crying, as soon as the rain started falling upon her. The tears streaming down now weren’t filled with regrets but just something else she could never managed to describe since this morning.

“You’ll catch a cold. Think of the children.”

She smiled seeing the man kneeling beside her with an umbrella in one hand above them. The man helped her up, holding onto her tightly as if she were fragile. She looked completely exhausted in his eyes. He knew she didn’t sleep very well for the past few days. He had to bring her home.

“We’ll leave as soon as the car’s here,” he said with a low voice still holding onto her protectively.

“He didn’t get to see them,” she muttered under her breath.

He didn’t hear her, “We should get going now.”

“Yeah,” with one last glance at the body, she left.

SAKU: I know I did this before. But this one is different. I had a change of heart in doing another new prologue for the TYL. Everyone is doing so great and probably I felt really left out! You go girls! :)
